North Texas April Showdown

Overview

Howdy all, at New World Gaming in Little Elm, Texas on April 19th we’re doing a short 3 rounder tournament to kick off our local competitive scene in N5!

Tournament starts at 10:30, if you can bring a table of terrain please show up at 10:00 to help set up. As always, I really appreciate any terrain people bring and help setting up!

Entry fee will be 15 dollars, payable to the store. Prizes will be store credit- first place will win some, and then the other main prizes will be raffled off randomly to players. This time we also have a painting competition! Paint up a character model (model needs to be something you’ve painted recently!) and bring it, during the lunch break we’ll have relatively unbiased and hopefully unbribed judges score your mini. The winner will get a painting-related prize. You don’t have to be in the tournament to join the painting comp! Swing by and join us for lunch and display of minis.

As usual, 2 hours and 30 minutes per game to keep it rolling. 15 minutes per player for deployment and 1 hour each for turns. Turn 1 will take longer, I recommend you spend 30 minutes on turn 1, 20 minutes on turn 2, and 10 minutes on turn 3 per player. Make quick decisions and think less, making mistakes and losing is better for learning than being stuck in analyzing a turn for several hours! Remember that taking too long to decide on AROs is slowing down your opponents turn as well. I highly recommend bringing a chess clock if you are worried about your game going over. Beatings will continue until speed improves, lots of folks need to get home on time and I want to make sure they get prizes before they do! The schedule will be as follows:

Missions are Mindwipe, Frostbyte, and Firefight. I HIGHLY recommend you read up on the missions and get comfortable with them before the event.

As always, bring two lists of the same faction/sectorial.
